Markdown Reader FAQ
What is the Markdown Reader?
+
This free online tool renders Markdown files with proper formatting. View README files, documentation, and notes beautifully formatted.
What Markdown features are supported?
+
We support standard Markdown including headings, bold, italic, links, images, code blocks, tables, and lists.
Can I edit the Markdown file?
+
This is a reader for viewing files. Use our Markdown Editor if you need to make changes.
What file types can I view?
+
You can view .md and .markdown files. The reader also supports plain text files with Markdown syntax.
Can I convert Markdown to other formats?
+
Yes! After viewing, you can convert your Markdown to PDF, HTML, or Word format.
Can I convert different files at once
+
Yes. Free conversions handle one file at a time (merge tools accept two), while Pro unlocks batch processing of multiple files at once.
Does it work on mobile equipment
+
Yes, our converter is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets. You can convert files on iOS, Android, and any other mobile platform with a modern browser.
Which browsers are supplied
+
Our converter works with all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera. We recommend keeping your browser updated for the best activity.
Are my files kept private and locked
+
Uploaded files are processed on our own conversion servers, nobody looks at them, and they are not shared. The upload and the converted file are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
What if my pull doesn't start
+
If your pull doesn't start not needing intervention, try clicking the download button again. Make sure pop-ups are not blocked, and check your browser's download folder. You can also right-click the download link and indicate 'Save As'.
Will the definition be preserved
+
It depends on the formats. A lossless target such as PNG, WAV or FLAC keeps what the source holds; a lossy target such as JPG, MP3 or MP4 is usually re-encoded, which trades some detail for a smaller file.
Do I need to create an account
+
No account is required for basic usage. You can process files immediately. Creating a free account gives you access to your conversion history and additional features.
