Why do I need to convert MOBI to EPUB?

Is the text quality affected?

Does the table of contents survive?

What happens to the cover?

Will my highlights, bookmarks and reading position transfer?

Do embedded fonts and styling carry over?

What about footnotes and internal links?

Are fixed-layout books handled?

Fixed-layout titles — comics, children's books, technical manuals with precise placement — convert best into formats that also support fixed layout. Converting a fixed-layout book into a purely reflowable format will rearrange the page, and that is inherent, not a bug.
Does the metadata stay correct?
