Which image format will I actually get from my DivX?

PNG by default, because it is lossless and universally supported. You can pick a specific target instead — JPG for photographic content and small files, PNG for sharp edges and transparency, WebP for the best size at a given quality, TIFF for archiving.

How do I choose between JPG, PNG and WebP?

Photographs go to JPG or WebP. Screenshots, diagrams, line art and anything with text or hard edges go to PNG or WebP lossless, because lossy compression halos sharp edges. WebP is the best of both, if everything that will open the file supports it.

What happens when the DivX has many frames or pages?

Each frame or page becomes its own numbered image, returned as an archive. That is why converting a long DivX produces a set rather than a single file, and why the download arrives zipped.

Can I get just one frame or page instead of all of them?

Yes — specify a timestamp or a page number and only that one is exported. This is the usual way to pull a thumbnail or a poster frame out of a longer DivX.

What resolution will the images be?

The native resolution of the source by default — no upscaling, since inventing pixels does not add detail. You can request a smaller size during conversion if you want thumbnails.

Does transparency survive?

Only into a format that supports it. Because this format is read and written by the same streaming pipeline as everything else we support, exporting to a transparency-capable target preserves the alpha channel while exporting to JPG composites everything onto white.

Will the images lose quality?

Only if you choose a lossy target. A lossless export preserves every pixel that the DivX contained; a lossy export is tunable, and quality 80-90 is visually indistinguishable for almost all content.

Can I convert several DivX files at once?

How do I know what was in my DivX before choosing a target?

Consider the source: DivX is a late-1990s MPEG-4 Part 2 codec typically wrapped in AVI — compact for its era, superseded by H.264. That tells you whether you are dealing with photographic content, flat graphics or a mix — which is precisely what should drive the format choice.

Is the metadata preserved?

Where both sides support it, yes — EXIF, timestamps and colour profile carry across. Use the privacy option to strip metadata if the images will be shared publicly and you would rather not publish GPS coordinates.

What if I need a specific size for a website or a print job?

Convert first, then use /resize/ on the result. Separating the two steps means you can re-crop or re-scale without re-running the conversion.

Is my DivX private during conversion?
