What does converting WebP to ZIP actually do?

It packages your file or files into a single ZIP archive. The contents are stored unchanged — this is a wrapping operation, not a format conversion, so what comes out of the archive is byte-identical to what went in.

Will my WebP files be compressed?

They are deflate-compressed on the way in, but how much they shrink depends entirely on the input. Because WebP carries both a lossy VP8 mode and a lossless mode plus full alpha, typically landing 25-35% under a JPG of matching visual quality, an already-compressed WebP may barely shrink at all, while uncompressed content can drop dramatically. Zero shrinkage is normal and not a fault.

Can I put many WebP files into one archive?

Yes — that is the main reason to do this. Upload the whole set and they are bundled into one ZIP in upload order, which is far easier to send, upload or store than dozens of separate files.

Does the ZIP preserve filenames and folders?

Filenames are preserved exactly, including Unicode characters. Folder structure is preserved when the source carried it; otherwise everything lands at the archive root.

Can I password-protect the ZIP?

Standard archive encryption is not applied here — the output is a plain, universally-readable ZIP. For confidential material, encrypt it locally with a tool you control rather than trusting any web service with the passphrase.

What can open the ZIP file?

Everything. Because ZIP is the universal archive: every operating system opens it with no extra software, Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS all extract it with no third-party software, which is exactly why it is the safe choice for sending files to someone whose setup you do not know.

Is any quality lost?

None. Archiving is lossless by definition — the extracted WebP is bit-for-bit identical to the original, with the same checksum. Nothing is re-encoded, resampled or degraded.

Is there a size limit?

The posted per-file cap applies to the upload; free accounts cover ordinary batches and Pro raises the ceiling for large sets. Very large collections are better archived locally, where nothing has to cross the network twice.

Why is my ZIP bigger than the original WebP?

Because archiving adds a small header and directory entry per file, and already-compressed data cannot shrink further. On a set of media files the archive is often a few kilobytes larger than the sum of its parts — that is normal.

Can I add or remove files after the ZIP is created?

Not through this tool — it produces a finished archive. Modify the set locally, or re-upload the corrected selection and generate a fresh ZIP.

Does the archive keep original timestamps?

File modification times are recorded where the upload provides them. Browser uploads do not always transmit accurate timestamps, so treat the archive dates as approximate rather than forensic.

Are my WebP files private?
