Why do I need to convert EPUB to FB2?

EPUB is reflowable XHTML in a zip — text re-lays-out to any screen width, which is why e-readers prefer it, while FB2 is a single XML file describing book structure directly, popular in Eastern European libraries — so the conversion exists to get a book you own onto the reader you actually use.
Is the text quality affected?

No. Both sides store real text, so this is a structural repackaging rather than a re-encode. Every word arrives intact; only the container and its markup dialect change.
Does the table of contents survive?

Yes — chapter structure and navigation are rebuilt in the FB2 format's own scheme, so tapping through chapters works as before. This is one of the parts most worth checking after conversion, since a broken ToC is the most common ebook defect.
What happens to the cover?

The cover image is carried across and registered as the cover in the FB2, so it shows correctly in the device library rather than appearing as the first page of the book.
Will my highlights, bookmarks and reading position transfer?

No — those live in your reader app's own database, keyed to its copy of the book, not inside the file. Converting produces a new file, and the device treats it as a new book starting at page one.
Can it remove DRM from a purchased book?

No. DRM-protected files cannot be opened and will fail with an error. This converts unprotected files and DRM-free books only.
Do embedded fonts and styling carry over?

Embedded fonts and CSS transfer where the target supports them. Formats with a simpler styling model flatten the design to their nearest equivalent — the text and structure are always preserved even when the visual polish is not.
What about footnotes and internal links?

Linked footnotes and internal cross-references are remapped to the FB2 equivalents and continue to work. External web links are preserved as-is.
Are fixed-layout books handled?

Fixed-layout titles — comics, children's books, technical manuals with precise placement — convert best into formats that also support fixed layout. Converting a fixed-layout book into a purely reflowable format will rearrange the page, and that is inherent, not a bug.
Does the metadata stay correct?

Title, author, series, publisher, language and description are carried across so the book files correctly in your library. Correct metadata matters more than it looks: it is how the device sorts, searches and groups your collection.
Can I convert my whole library at once?
