What do I actually get when I convert MP3 to WMV?

A real WMV video file whose audio track is your MP3, paired with a generated visual — a still background, the cover art, or a rendered waveform. Nothing is invented: the audio is untouched, and the picture exists only because a video container needs a video stream.
Why would I want a video of an audio file?

Because most publishing platforms only accept video. YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and many messaging apps will not take a bare MP3, so wrapping it as WMV is the standard way to get a podcast episode, a track or a voice recording onto them.
Does the audio quality change?

Only if the container requires it. MP3 is the universal lossy codec — nothing refuses to play it, at the cost of poorer quality per bit than AAC or Opus, and where the WMV container accepts that codec directly we copy the stream through untouched, bit for bit. Where it does not, we re-encode once at a high bitrate — audible difference is very unlikely.
Can I use my own image as the background?

Yes — supply a still and it is held for the full duration at the video resolution you pick. If the MP3 already carries embedded cover art we use that by default, and fall back to a plain background when there is none.
Can I get an animated waveform or spectrum instead?

Yes — choose the waveform visualiser and the picture is rendered from the actual samples of your MP3, so it moves in time with the audio. It costs more encode time than a static image but performs much better as social content.
What resolution and frame rate should I choose?

1920x1080 at 30fps is the safe default everywhere. For a static background a low frame rate is fine and keeps the file small, since nothing moves; the file size of a still-image music video is dominated by the audio, not the picture.
How long can the MP3 be?

Duration is limited by the file-size cap rather than by minutes. A static-image WMV adds very little per minute on top of the audio, so full-length podcast episodes and DJ sets convert comfortably; free accounts cover typical uploads and Pro raises the ceiling.
Will the WMV play everywhere?

MP4 with H.264 and AAC is the universally-safe combination and what we default to. Because WMV is Windows Media, tuned for low-bitrate playback in the Microsoft stack and increasingly unsupported elsewhere, the container you pick determines where it plays more than the audio ever does.
Does the MP3 metadata (title, artist, album) carry over?

Tags are copied into the WMV container metadata where there is an equivalent field. Note that platforms usually ignore embedded video metadata and use the title and description you type into their own upload form.
Can I convert a batch of MP3 files into videos?

Yes — upload several and each becomes its own WMV with the same visual settings. This is how people turn a full album or a season of episodes into uploadable videos in one pass.
Will the video be flagged as low quality by the platform?

A static image is fine — platforms judge audio-led uploads on the audio. Keep the still at the full output resolution so it is not upscaled, and prefer the waveform visualiser if you want the algorithm to see motion.
Is my MP3 private during conversion?
