Your SVG file has no inherent pixel size — it is geometry, so you choose the output resolution. Pick the largest size you will actually display, then scale down in the browser; rasterizing small and scaling up is what produces the soft, blocky PNG everyone complains about. We default to 1024px on the long edge and let you override it.

Text inside your SVG references a font by name. If the font is embedded or converted to outlines it renders exactly; if it merely names a font the renderer does not have, a substitute is used and the spacing shifts. Convert text to paths in your editor before uploading if the PNG must match exactly.
Does transparency survive SVG to PNG?
+
It depends entirely on the target. PNG, WebP, TIFF and ICO keep the alpha channel, so an unfilled SVG background stays transparent in the PNG. JPG, JPEG and JFIF have no alpha at all and composite onto white instead.
Yes — when the PNG format cannot store alpha we composite onto a solid colour, white by default. If your artwork is light-on-transparent it will vanish against white, so set an explicit background before converting rather than after.
How do I get a retina / 2x PNG from my SVG?
+
Set the export width to double your CSS display width. Because SVG is resolution-independent there is no quality penalty for asking for a larger raster — the only cost is file size. A 2x export is the normal recipe for logos on high-DPI displays.

For logos, icons and flat illustration, yes — browsers render SVG natively and it stays crisp at every zoom level. Convert to PNG when you need a fixed raster for an email, a social preview, an older CMS, or any tool that will not accept vector input.
They are composited in document order into a single flat PNG. Grouping, ids and layer names are structural metadata with no raster equivalent, so they are not preserved. Export separate SVG files if you need the pieces to stay separate.
