Pages are rendered at 150 DPI, which is crisp on screen and fine for most printing. There is no DPI setting for Word to JPG. For 72 or 300 DPI, convert the Word to PDF first, then use the PDF to JPG converter, which has a Resolution setting.
No. There is no page setting for Word files, so every page is rendered as its own JPG and you keep the ones you need. If you only want the first page, convert the Word to PDF and then use the PDF to JPG converter, whose Pages menu offers First page only.
